MEPAKI — A Study in Presence and PossibilityMEPAKI holds a singular place in our trajectory.
Conceived in September 2022, it was the first brand we developed as a formal team, at a moment when Tulum itself was redefining its identity in a post-pandemic landscape.
At its core, MEPAKI is a brand designed for individuals who value the eternal present, those who understand the importance of pausing, breathing, and engaging fully with the moment. Tulum, with its natural richness and contemplative rhythm, becomes the perfect setting for this philosophy. The brand invites its audience not to escape life, but to experience it more consciously.
The brand invites its audience not to escape life, but to experience it more consciously.
Positioned at the threshold of the emerging Soy Tulum district, the project represented both an entry point and a statement: a new vision for living, rooted in presence yet open to the future.
The project did not exist solely within the physical realm.MEPAKI exists in a digital world -at the time The Metaverse-.
MEPAKI extended into a parallel, ethereal dimension: an early exploration of the metaverse within real estate.
At a time when the convergence between digital and physical worlds was still emerging, the brand embraced this intersection, challenging the prevailing “ultra-natural” narrative of Tulum by introducing a forward-looking, hybrid identity. This duality opened a new creative territory for us: one where architecture, branding, and digital experience could coexist and evolve together.
A visual brand driver acts as a translation system between what a company is and what it expresses. Every organization operates from an internal engine, its values, ambitions, culture, and strategic intent. These elements are often abstract, difficult to articulate, and even harder to communicate consistently. A well-defined visual driver distills that complexity into a clear, guiding principle that informs every design decision.
We began experimenting with AI-driven image generation. The complete Design Ecosystem
Our scope encompassed from graphics to website and editorial materials to sales assets and brand storytelling.
It was also within this project that we began experimenting with AI-driven image generation, exploring tools like MidJourney at an early stage. The creative freedom of MEPAKI allowed us to push boundaries: many of which have since become foundational to our current practice.
Audiovisual experience
The project culminated in a cinematic brand introduction, filmed in 4K 10-bit and presented to stakeholders at the Papaya Playa Project speakeasy, an immersive moment that brought the vision of MEPAKI into a shared, tangible experience.
MEPAKI remains one of our most meaningful and defining projects, not only for what it represents, but for what it enabled. It marked the beginning of Hypha as a collective, and set the tone for the way we approach design: as a bridge between vision, context, and future possibility.
