Horizontes Mexicanos : Visual Arts Festival in Tulum

An annual gathering of Mexican artists celebrating creativity and art in Tulum by Tulum Art Club.

An event where national talents unite to expand the boundaries of art and culture through the intervention of public space, transforming the city into a living canvas. This initiative is more than an artistic showcase; it is an invitation to imagine new horizons, supporting emerging art to strengthen community ties through creativity.

Renewing Tulum’s Stree Art

Horizontes Mexicanos is Tulum’s first Mexican-led art festival: murals, originals, performance and residencies by emerging artists, produced by Tulum Art Club and Artery, fostering dialogue, international projection, and collectible prints.

In the first edition of Horizontes Mexicanos, artist Bache created what is now considered the tallest mural in Tulum, a monumental artwork that rises over La Veleta as a new symbol of Mexican contemporary muralism.

Painted as part of a month-long residency co-produced by Tulum Art Club and Artery, the piece explores themes of memory, ecology, and resilience through Bache’s signature language of subtle figures and layered textures.

Tulum has been a hub for creative energy for years, but somehow, it never had a proper art festival made by and for artists — until now. Horizontes Mexicanos is the first official Mexican art festival to happen in Tulum, and that means something. Not because we’re chasing headlines or hashtags, but because it’s time.

Time to give space to Mexican artists. Time to talk honestly about process, community, vulnerability. Time to let the murals and the performances say what can’t be written.

If you know Tulum Art Club, you know that this isn’t about spectacle. It’s about building a long-term, cultural presence. One that honors creativity, not trends. One that collaborates with the community, instead of extracting from it.

“This first edition of Horizontes Mexicanos is our way of planting roots again. It started as an idea in a conversation with Benny Vergara, founder of Artery, someone I deeply respect for the way he understands contemporary art and the importance of context. With his support, and the shared vision we have for creating an actual ecosystem for artists in Mexico, this first festival is not a one-off. It’s a foundation.” - Alfonso - Tulum Art Club Founder”
